COVID 19 – PRINCIPLES FOR ‘WORK SAFE’ COMPANIES

Karsten Interior Services would like to keep our employees and customers updated on what is transpiring throughout the company during these stressful times. The current pandemic has drastically affected all of us in some way and is significantly impacting the economy. The Karsten Interior Team has closely followed the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the local, state and federal information and updates concerning the virus.

On March 24, 2020 County Judge Lina Hidalgo issued the STAY HOME WORK SMART Order identifying commercial and residential construction as “Essential Business”. Based on this order Karsten Interior Services will continue to perform work on all of our construction projects, but will do so in a manner to keep our employees, customers and peers healthy and safe, as that is our top priority. Our internal work policies have been revised and implemented and are being strictly enforced by our leaders and adhered to by our teams. Our March 28, 2020 Dan Karsten, President and CEO, signed The Principles for ‘Work Safe’ Companies from the Greater Houston Partnership which adhere to these 10 principles:

1.) Allow all but critical on-site employees to work from home.
2.) Employ video technology.
3.) Create a safe work environment for all critical on-site employees.
4.) Require sick workers to stay home.
5.) Adjust paid sick leave (PTO) policies.
6.) Encourage proper hygiene.
7.) Create alternative teams.
8.) Restrict on-site access.
9.) Discontinue work-related travel and require reporting of personal travel.
10.) Establish anonymous reporting.
